At Smith Physiotherapy, we don’t believe in standard exercise programmes. That’s why we always start with a personal analysis of your complaint. Based on that, we create a tailored treatment plan combining hands-on techniques (such as manual therapy, dry needling or deep tissue massage) with targeted exercises.

This way, we address not only your symptoms, but also the root cause. For faster and lasting recovery.

EPTE therapy

EPTE (Ultrasound-guided Percutaneous Electrolysis) is a treatment method for chronic or difficult-to-heal tendon complaints, such as Achilles tendon problems, heel spurs or tennis elbow. Scientific research has proven that EPTE has positive effects for this type of tendon complaint. In addition to EPTE treatment, it is important that targeted exercises are performed.

With the help of ultrasound, an assessment is made of the severity of the complaint. Next, ultrasound is used to determine the exact location where the EPTE needle should be inserted. The skin is disinfected and, under ultrasound guidance, the correct location is punctured. After this, a mild electrical current is applied for one to two minutes. This current is the stimulating impulse for the tendon to allow the inflammation to subside and initiate natural healing.

An EPTE treatment course of 5 to 10 treatments is most effective. You will experience a clear reduction in pain, and even complete pain-free recovery is achievable.
